What's the difference between the Readwise Reader and Highlights products?

Reader lets you save everything to one place and replace several apps. Highlights makes it easy to revisit and learn from your ebook & article highlights.

Reader: All your reading in one place. No more juggling dozens of reading apps. Just one: we call it Reader. Save and read unlimited articles, PDFs, EPUBs, emails, YouTube videos, RSS, and X threads. Highlight and search everything you read, with text-to-speech and Ghostreader.

Highlights: Remember what you read. Sync your highlights from Kindle, Instapaper, Apple Books and more. Reading something once isn't enough to remember it. Readwise uses Spaced Repetition to resurface your best highlights at the right times. Search to find any highlight instantly. Can I use Readwise for free?

Readwise is free for first 30 days. After the free trial, Readwise costs a small monthly fee.

Why should I pay for Readwise?

The same reason you pay for your books: to learn and grow wiser.

The true cost of a book is not the sale price, but the hours you invest into reading it. Why invest all of that time if you aren’t going to use or remember anything from it?

Readwise costs much less than a single book per month, but lets you get much more out of your time spent reading.

Why isn't Readwise free forever?

In order for us to be able to build Readwise sustainably, we need to charge a small monthly fee. Not only does this align our incentives with yours (we never sell your data or advertise to you), it ensures that Readwise won't go anywhere. You can read more about how and why we made this decision in this blog post we wrote.

What happens to my data if I change plans?

Nothing is deleted. Your documents, highlights and notes stay in your account, and your API tokens and connected apps keep working with the apps your plan includes.

Can I cancel Readwise?

Absolutely. You can cancel any time at your Account Preferences.

We're building Readwise to improve the way people read, not squeeze every last cent out of our users. Because of this, we're happy to give you your money back if it means we can learn how to do better.

Is there a discount for students?

Yes! We offer a 50% discount to students and other members of academia.
