The Unexpected Cop

"From his small community in northern Ontario to the military and the Saskatoon Police Service, Ernie Louttit has made an incredible journey helping others and protecting Canadians. Known as 'Indian Ernie' in Saskatoon's inner-city, he has been both hated and revered by the Indigenous peoples he has served. He has played roles of both protector and enforcer. In this moving account, Ernie tells an insightful story that illuminates his personal journey." --Doug Cuthand, author of Askiwina: A Cree World

Bestselling author Ernie Louttit helped put an end to Saskatoon's notorious "Starlight Tours." In The Unexpected Cop, he demonstrates that being a leader means sticking to your convictions and sometimes standing up to the powers that be. An outsider who became an insider, he was tough on the beat but was also a role model for kids on the streets.
