Every painting, sketch and sculpture of Charlie Russell told the story of the romance of the American West with his trademark wit and dynamic talent. He was the real deal, learning animal anatomy by skinning fur trappers' game and nightherding on ranches. His profound admiration for Native Americans informed his sensitive portrayals. His art shaped our vision of what the Wild West looked like at the turn of the 19th century.
