British Battalion, XV International Brigade: Memorial Souvenir and Roll of Honour is an 80-page facsimile of the memorial booklet published around 1937-38, commemorating British volunteers who fought and died in the Spanish Civil War. Featuring articles, poems, personal accounts and a Roll of Honour, it provides a poignant contemporary record of their service and sacrifice. Following the Nationalist victory, the International Brigades were initially viewed as being on the 'wrong side' of history, but their reputation was later transformed as their opposition to fascism was seen as prescient, with the Spanish Civil War increasingly recognised as a precursor to the Second World War.
