I was on an archeological dig in the Cape Breton Highlands, until betrayal sent me running. A severe lightning storm crashed over me, and I found myself swallowed by the dark, angry Bras D'Or Lake, only to surface in a different place, a different...time? Thrust into an unknown world-a threat at every turn-my chances of making it out alive were slim, until an impressive, big beast of a man came to my rescue. The tense, axe-wielding lumberjack named Wood-a danger to me in so many ways-tossed me over his shoulder and took me to his remote cabin. His lodging was hidden amongst the trees, his existence a quiet one-until I arrived. I needed to get back to my time. He needed me gone. I confused him. He confused me. We were different people with different secrets, but we had one thing in common, an attraction that spanned time and had me wondering if I could ever trust another man, and if he could ever love another woman?
I've been reading romance novels for as long as I can remember. I just never thought I'd be writing them. In fact, I graduated from university with a business degree and started working in the Finance Department of Environment Canada...shiver. A few years into my career, my hubby, who's a meteorologist, got posted up north, population 800. I quit my job and went with him. At first all the spare time was great, then I got bored so I started to read. Day and night. When I ran out of books to read I decided to try writing one. After all, how hard could it be. Ha!! Well, you guessed it. It was hard!
Many years later I discovered Romance Writers of America and have learned a great deal since joining my local chapter. My journey to publication hasn't been smooth sailing, but with the support and guidance from the wonderful writers at RWAC, it's been a lot easier. And a lot more fun!
I'm very fortunate to have a husband and two children who have been supportive in every possible way. On those frustrating days when I'm banging my head against my desk I look up to see a heart shaped sticky note on my computer that says I love you because you naver give up.
A firm believer in the power of a woman's innate sexuality, Lauren originally intended to obtain a doctorate in sexology and become a sex therapist. Instead she was thrown head first into an accounting job (her worst nightmare). When it was gently suggested that perhaps numbers weren't her thing, the English minor made a return to words instead, and found that it was a much better fit.
A self- professed "good girl", Lauren loves to take a walk on the wild side in her stories, and she lives vicariously through her kick butt heroines and the delectable men who want them.
Lauren Hawkeye is a writer, theater enthusiast, knitting aficionado and animal lover. She's older than she looks-really-and younger than she feels-most of the time-and in her stories she loves to explore the journeys that take women through life.
Inspired daily by the Canadian Rocky Mountains in which she lives, Lauren uses the time not spent at her keyboard to hang with her "funny little fur family" -- her pit bull mix Sasha, Persian rescue Sinatra...oh yeah, and her man, Rob. Without their unwavering support, as well as that of her parents, sister, and family dog Rory, whom she lives near, Lauren would never have found the guts to follow her dream.
