A Celtic Druid healer is thrust into the political games between the native Druids and Christian missionaries... with the throne of the kingdom as the playing surface. Priestess, herbal healer, Druid: a young woman living in the secluded wilds of pre-Christian Celtic Ireland is bound by sacred oaths to heal the tribes. As Christianity sweeps the land, tribal loyalties are threatened and the fealty of the nobles towards the old Pagan religion wavers. Summoned by Druid elders to protect her people, Ethne must confront the oaths she has foresworn to the kingdoms, as well as to her own heart. Weaving together Druidic practices, daily Celtic life, and Pagan culture, this Bardic teaching tale is rich in ancient wisdom, rituals, prayers, herbal lore and culture. Includes an Old Irish glossary and pronunciation guide.
