Seven hounds that hunt by eye and outrun everything else on four legs.
The Sight Hound - A Complete Anthology of the Breeds covers the Afghan Hound, the Borzoi, the Greyhound, the Irish Wolfhound, the Saluki, the Scottish Deerhound and the Whippet, in chapters taken from the rare kennel literature of 1879 to 1935, among them H. W. Huntington's My Dog and I (1897), Arthur Craven's Dogs of the World (1931) and Walter Hutchinson's Hutchinson's Dog Encyclopaedia (1935).
Between them these breeds carry the whole history of coursing - wolf, deer, hare and gazelle - and two of them, the Wolfhound above all, were reconstructed within living memory of the writers here. Points, temperament, running ability and the pedigrees of the celebrated dogs are all set out, with the original photographs reproduced throughout.
