Your Word, Your Wardrobe, Your World - A Designer's Guide to the Life That's Yours
Tell us what's wrong and we'll take a look.
Thanks – we got it. We'll review and follow up if needed.
Most people are living lives that don't reflect who they really are inside. You've been following scripts that were never written for you - and wondering why nothing fits.
David Peck spent over twenty years as a Paris-trained fashion designer, dressing pop stars to opera stars, and came to realize that his time in the fitting room was never really about the clothes. In ARTful, he makes the process teachable. ART - Assemble, Refine, Try. Gather possibilities without limitation. Keep what resonates and set aside what doesn't serve right now. Test, adjust, repeat. It's how a designer works, and it works just as well on a life as it does on a collection.
The framework is applied across three domains. Your Word - the single word that sets a year's direction. Your Wardrobe - what you put on your body and what it says before you open your mouth. Your World - the rooms, the relationships, and the rhythms you actually live inside.
You don't need a total overhaul. You can redesign your life through small, intentional edits that make your outer life match your inner self. Designing a life you love is a creative act, not a makeover. Constraints don't cramp your style - they define it.
It's a book about making your intuition legible - about seeing the way your own mind already moves, and then creating a life on purpose.
What you do next is a design decision.
David Peck is a Paris-trained fashion designer, speaker, podcast host, and author whose work sits at the intersection of design and identity. His upbringing in an extremely conservative evangelical home handed him a life that had already been designed for him. He has spent his career since designing his own. After studying at Parsons Paris and spending nearly five years living and working in France, he opened his namesake boutique in Houston, where he's built a reputation for custom couture worn by everyone from brides to A-listers, including Kate Bosworth, Taylor Swift, Tony Award winner Kelli O'Hara, and opera star Ailyn Perez. His designs have appeared on the cover of Women's Wear Daily and in Teen Vogue, Marie Claire, InStyle, and People Style Watch. He has been featured on America's Next Top Model, Hart of Dixie, and E! News.In 2024, David launched Inside the Design Studio, a podcast exploring identity, reinvention, and what it actually takes to design a life you love. The same themes anchor his speaking work, which has taken him to Princeton, FIT, the University of Houston, and Fashion Group International events around the world. His first book, ARTful, brings a designer's process to the work of building a life. Its framework - Assemble, Refine, Try - is the method he has used in the studio for two decades, applied across three domains: the word that sets your direction, the wardrobe that speaks before you do, and the world you actually live inside.David chairs the board of Paris University, which includes Paris College of Art, and serves on the board of Theatre Under the Stars in Houston, where he lives.
