Gunman's Bluff

A young banker, master of one of London's great fortunes, stands accused of driving his fiancée's brother to ruin and death. Heartbroken and bent on revenge, she goes through with their wedding all the same, determined to break the man she once loved at the very moment he believes himself happiest.

Her scheme works beyond anything she imagined. Stripped of his money and his name, the banker disappears into the city's underworld, a stranger among pickpockets, fences, and gunmen who would cut a throat for the price of a meal. Knifed in a gang quarrel and hunted by police and criminals alike, he learns what charity costs from those who have nothing.

As Scotland Yard closes in on a string of robberies and killings, a notorious gunman becomes the one ally between a lost man and the grave. But the wife who set the ruin in motion is now racing to undo it-before the bluff that keeps him alive is called.
