Darkest Derbyshire

Derbyshire is one of England's most beautiful counties, boasting dramatic and romantic landscapes. But beyond its natural beauty, the county has also been a backdrop for a rich and complex weave of superstition and folklore. Tales ranging from the whimsical and fantastic to dark, bloody and mysterious. This book examines some of the more macabre folklore from Derbyshire and explores what dark history and customs may lurk beneath the stories. Vampires, Werewolves, Screaming Skulls, Ghosts, and even Mermaids put in an appearance.
Simon Nicholson draws on his knowledge of local history and archaeology to throw light on dark folklore.
