A pall of danger hangs over the raw, dust-laden streets of a frontier town gripped by greed and violence. In this taut western novel, the American frontier is laid bare in all its peril and promise, where every shadow may conceal an outlaw and every handshake could be a prelude to betrayal. Against the backdrop of the gold rush, fortunes are won and lost at the turn of a card or the flash of a six-shooter, and the law is often no more than a rumour whispered in the saloons. This is a world where frontier justice is delivered with cold finality, and the line between right and wrong is as shifting as the prairie wind. The narrative pulses with wild west action, drawing the reader into a landscape alive with tension-where the clang of spurs and the crack of gunfire echo through the night. The drama of a western town on the edge is brought to life with gritty realism, as men and women navigate shifting alliances, hidden motives, and the ever-present threat of violence. The story immerses you in the 19th century west, a place where ambition and desperation collide, and where the pursuit of gold can turn neighbour against neighbour. With a deft hand, the author crafts a tale that captures the essence of old west adventure, fusing the restless energy of frontier life with the moral ambiguity that defines the genre. The characters are drawn with precision, each shaped by the unforgiving landscape and the constant spectre of danger. As the plot unfolds, themes of loyalty, justice, and survival are explored with unflinching honesty, making this a standout work of western gunfight fiction. Robert E. Howard (1906-1936) was born and raised in rural Texas, the son of a pioneer physician. He began writing professionally at the age of fifteen and turned out dozens of tales of heroic and supernatural fantasy, featuring many memorable creations - including the character he is best remembered for: Conan of Cimmeria. These stories, mostly published in Weird Tales, won him a huge audience across the world and influenced a whole generation of writers, from Robert Jordan to Raymond E. Feist. Sadly, Howard killed himself in June 1936 when he learned that his beloved mother had fallen into a coma.
