Cambridge International as Level--English General Paper

The Collins International AS English General series provides an easy-to-use, international course that supports students in developing the key skills required for the Cambridge International AS Level English General Paper (8021) for examination from 2028. We are working toward endorsement of this title for the Cambridge Pathway.

The Student's Book offers full coverage of the Cambridge International AS Level English General Paper syllabus (8021) and has been written and reviewed by a team of experienced international teachers. It provides a clear and practical structure for teaching the course, with well-organized, easy-to-navigate sections, chapters, and units.

The chapter structure highlights the essential skills students need to develop and demonstrates how to build them step by step before applying them to a variety of tasks. It provides balanced support for both essay writing and comprehension through distinct chapters and detailed exemplification of each skill set.

Regular annotated examples of successful writing and analysis, paired with peer-assessment activities, help students evaluate and refine their own responses. Instruction for improving written communication is integrated throughout--supporting students in using cohesion, sentence structure, and grammar to express their ideas more effectively.

Designed as a truly international course, the book encourages students to read widely across a range of contemporary global themes, fostering curiosity and engagement with new perspectives. Clear, accessible tasks and explanations, glossaries alongside texts, and language-support features throughout each unit offer additional help for students who use English as a second or additional language.

The course consists of a Teacher's Guide, Student's Book, and a digital subscription on Collins Hub. (The Teacher's Guide and digital subscription will not go through the Cambridge endorsement process.)
