"Hey, Emmy."
Only one person had ever called her that-and he was in prison. Yet when she turned, Bruce Wilder was there, waiting to check in at the Sweetbrier Inn.
Summer tourist season is underway, and Emma Blackwood, her Aunt Rose, and the inn's chef, Becky, are keeping the Sweetbrier Inn running smoothly despite a parade of quirky guests.
Then Bruce checks in under a false name. Emma wants him gone, but Bruce insists he has paid his debt to society and deserves another chance. Emma refuses to reopen that chapter and vows to get rid of him...in front of witnesses.
When a string of high-end jewelry burglaries hits the area, Deputy Cal Cooper asks Emma and Becky to help investigate. Emma suspects Bruce may be involved-until the crimes escalate from burglary to murder. Now she must rely on all her amateur sleuthing skills to solve the case as the thief's target hits closer to home.
