Necromancy and the Art of Hero Killing

After twelve failed attempts at world domination, immortal necromancer Hawthorne has finally accepted defeat. He’s traded his undead armies for a quiet life in the mountains, where he tends to his garden and cares for the skeletal creatures who follow him home. Retirement suits him, in fact.

But now the Hero is back. And it’s time for Hawthorne to begin again.

Determined to make Attempt Thirteen different, Hawthorne sets out to recruit a band of deadly assassins. There’s just one problem: nobody remembers him. The world has moved on, people are obsessed with strange rectangular devices, and apparently hiring professional killers is no longer a respectable career choice.

Fine. He can train his own.

Concealing his identity, nerdy Hero Reborn Jemison joins the necromancer’s spectacularly unqualified band of novices, planning to learn his enemy’s weaknesses and bring him down from within. Only, Hawthorne isn’t as evil as he thought. In fact, he’s charming, caring, and…attractive?

Now the Hero Reborn is up against fate, cardio, and his growing feelings for his greatest enemy…and he’s losing to all three.

For fans of Assistant to the Villain and anyone who’d rather date the bad guy than defeat him, start your training today.
