The Vintage Dog Scrapbook - The Scottish Terrier

A keepsake miscellany for the dog-minded, set among vintage photographs of the stubborn, whiskered terrier of the north.

The Vintage Dog Scrapbook collects the essays, anecdotes, poems and literary excerpts that dog people have written about their own - the comedy, the devotion, the small daily rituals - and prints them among photographs of the Scottie drawn from rare breed volumes in our library. The writing is for dogs at large; the pictures are the breed's.

An earth dog from the Highlands and islands, kept for centuries to go to ground after vermin and fixed as a type by Aberdeen breeders in the 1870s, the Scottie became one of the most recognisable silhouettes of the twentieth century. Here it is, in its own period.

This edition features:

• Essays, anecdotes, poems and literary excerpts on dogs and dog owning
• Vintage photographs of the breed, taken from rare volumes in our own library
• A gift for the canine-inclined, and for the devotee of one particular northern terrier
• Short pieces made for dipping into, at any hour of the evening
