"Leave It to Psmith" is P.G. Wodehouse's final comic novel featuring the charming and resourceful Psmith (the "P" is silent, he explains, as in "pshrimp."). It is also the second book set at Blandings Castle and includes several of Wodehouse's regular cast of characters: Lord Emsworth, Freddie Threepwood and Lady Constance Keeble.

The plot follows Psmith as he talks his way into a job as secretary to the absent-minded Lord Emsworth at Blandings. He's actually there to help his friend Freddie Threepwood and to assist Eve Halliday, with whom he's smitten, in retrieving her stolen necklace from a suspicious guest. The castle fills with imposters, schemers, and romantic entanglements, including a flower-pot-throwing poet and various fortune hunters.

The novel perfectly captures Wodehouse's gift for farcical plotting and sparkling dialogue, set against the idyllic backdrop of an English country estate in the 1920s. It's a delightful comedy of errors where everything resolves happily through Psmith's ingenious maneuvering and irrepressible charm.

It is presented here in its unabridged format, though the ending of the novel differs from the orignal, serialized version Wodehouse published in 1923.

P. G. Wodehouse

Sir Pelham Grenville Wodehouse, KBE (15 October 1881 – 14 February 1975) was an English author and one of the most widely read humorists of the 20th century. Born in Guildford, the son of a British magistrate based in Hong Kong, Wodehouse spent happy teenage years at Dulwich College, to which he remained devoted all his life. After leaving school he was employed by a bank but disliked the work and turned to writing in his spare time. His early novels were mostly school stories, but he later switched to comic fiction, creating several regular characters who became familiar to the public over the years. They include the feather-brained Bertie Wooster and his sagacious valet, Jeeves; the immaculate and loquacious Psmith; the feeble-minded Lord Emsworth and the Blandings Castle set; the loquacious Oldest Member, with stories about golf; and the equally loquacious Mr Mulliner, with tall tales on subjects ranging from bibulous bishops to megalomaniac movie moguls.
