The Young Boss of Camp Eighteen

When seventeen-year-old Walter Northrop takes command of Camp Eighteen, the newest and most isolated lumber camp in his father's timber empire, he faces challenges no classroom could prepare him for. A savage blizzard, treacherous ice storms, and prowling wolf packs test his survival skills, but human threats prove even deadlier.

Accompanied by his loyal friends Clement, Donald, and Raoul-plus Raoul's remarkable wolf-dog, The Black Shadow-Walter must meet a critical timber delivery deadline while unknown saboteurs work to destroy his operation from within. Equipment vanishes, accidents multiply, and a mysterious airplane delivers secret messages to planted troublemakers in his crew. When one friend is attacked and another kidnapped, Walter realizes the conspiracy reaches far beyond simple mischief.

With winter closing in and production falling behind, Walter must prove himself worthy of his father's trust. He'll need every ounce of woodcraft, courage, and leadership to unmask the traitors, rescue his friend, and deliver the timber-all while keeping his respect among hardened lumberjacks who doubt a "young boss" can handle a man's job. Set in the rugged North Woods during the golden age of logging, this classic adventure from the beloved Black Shadow series delivers authentic wilderness action and the timeless challenge of earning leadership through character.
