An Anthology of Horror Stories about Bugs
Tell us what's wrong and we'll take a look.
Thanks – we got it. We'll review and follow up if needed.
This World Belongs to Us is an anthology of horror stories about bugs, writ large-we're not scientists, so spiders and slugs and scorpions (oh my!) are in here too. A child pays for a thoughtless action for the rest of her life. A lothario mistreats the wrong woman. A hunter tracks a horrifying monster to the edge of reality. Space larvae learn to be human. An influencer hawks this year's most popular accessory. A prisoner in solitary makes a new friend. And more, and more. This collection will terrify you with nineteen stories about the creepy-crawlies that were here before us and will be here long after we're gone.
Featuring stories by Bram Stoker Award winner Kealan Patrick Burke, Bram Stoker Award nominees Paula D. Ashe, Laurel Hightower, Cynthia Pelayo, and V. Castro, plus Octavia Cade, Felix I.D. Dimaro, Jaclyn Youhana Garver, Rowan Hill, C.B. Jones, Bitter Karella, Gwen Katz, R.M. Kidd, J.A. Prentice, Bert SG, David Simmons, Yvette Tan, and Kay Vaindal as well as a major rediscovery-John B.L. Goodwin's 1946 story "The Cocoon," one of the creepiest stories ever written but out of print for more than 40 years.
Edited by Michael W. Phillips Jr.
Hailed by Booklist as "one of the most clever and original talents in contemporary horror," Kealan Patrick Burke was born and raised in Ireland. Since then, he has written numerous novels, among them the popular southern gothic Kin, and over two hundred short stories and novellas, many of which are in various stages of development for film/TV. In 2005, Burke won the Bram Stoker Award for his coming-of-age novella The Turtle Boy, the first book in the acclaimed Timmy Quinn series.
More recently, he wrote the screenplays for Sour Candy (based on his novella), and the remake of the iconic horror film The Changeling (1980), for the original film's producer, Joel B. Michaels. He also adapted Sour Candy as a graphic novel for John Carpenter's Night Terrors.
He lives in Ohio with a Scooby Doo lookalike rescue named Red.
Laurel Hightower is the author of Below, The Day of the Door, and Crossroads, which won the This Is Horror Award for Novella of the Year. Laurel works as a paralegal in a mid-size firm, wrangling litigators by day and writing at night. A bourbon and beer girl, she's a fan of horror movies and true life ghost stories.
