The Sword Scroll

The Samurai General Yamamoto Kansuke (1501 1561) was a renowned strategist in the Warring States Period of Japan. Though Kansuke was blind in one eye and lame in one leg, he was legendary for both his fierceness as a warrior and brilliance as a military tactician. His illustrated book contains details of sword and spear stances as well as the best tactical approaches to various encounters with an enemy. Four versions of his book were published after his death and this translation combines the information found in all four volumes in one book.
