The problem of the mysterious disappearance of Sir James Lyttleton was peculiarly baffling for Chief Inspector Candlish of Scotland Yard. Lyttleton had sent a curt wire announcing his departure for America and then completely vanished. It was the chance discovery of a body floating in a stream in Sussex which provided the first clue, for there were several very singular facts about it, and soon after James Lyttleton's body was found in another man's coffin!
Ronald Arthur Vennor Morris was born on 19 September 1877, the older brother of fantasy writer Kenneth Morris (1879-1937). Ronald contributed occasional articles and poems to theosophical publications, but The Lyttleton Case is apparently his only work of fiction. R.A.V. Morris died of prostate cancer, at the age of 66, at a nursing home in Brighton, on 30 November 1943.
