Hey friend,

We live in a world where we expect everything to happen now.

Whether it’s wanting immediate results from a workout or instant success in a project, we’re often chasing quick wins.

But if you think about it, progress is more like farming: you plant seeds, tend to them, and wait. The plant doesn’t show up immediately, but with time and effort, it grows.

This is the essence of the Farmer’s Mindset:

Each task you do is a little seed you’re planting. At first, you may not see results right away, but over time, with consistent effort, those small actions start to add up.

For example, in fitness, research shows you’ll usually start to see initial results within 2 to 4 weeks if you’re sticking to a consistent routine.

And for visible changes, like muscle growth, it often takes between few weeks and several months of regular effort.

The same goes for learning something new.

Mastering a skill follows a learning curve, which means you’ve got to put in the work over several months to really see progress.

In his book Atomic Habits, James Clear highlights how progress is often invisible at first, calling it the Plateau of Latent Potential. During this time, it feels like nothing is happening, but beneath the surface, change is taking root.

In other words, don’t rush the process, and don’t expect to see a fully-grown tree on day one. Just plant the seed.

One Experiment

This week, try approaching your tasks with the Farmer’s Mindset. Pick one goal and break it down into small, manageable steps (your seeds). Commit to working on it every day, even if it’s just for 10-15 minutes, and don’t worry about seeing results right away. Just focus on planting those seeds and trust the process.

One Quote

“Everyone wants to live on top of the mountain, but all the happiness and growth occurs while you’re climbing it.” - Andy Rooney

TL;DR

The Farmer’s Mindset is all about being patient with progress. Like planting seeds, small daily efforts eventually lead to bigger results, whether in fitness, learning, or personal projects. It’s not about quick wins, but about showing up consistently and letting time do the work.
