L. Frank Baum (1856-1919) was an American author and theatrical entrepreneur best known for creating the Land of Oz. Beginning with The Wonderful Wizard of Oz (1900), Baum produced a series of fantasy novels that helped establish a distinctly American tradition of children's literature. His work blends whimsy, satire, and moral clarity, and remains widely read more than a century after its first publication.
