Jay Strongman

Jay Strongman is a renowned international DJ and a long-time writer on popular and underground culture. Growing up in 1960s and '70s Britain, he was heavily influenced by American TV shows, movies, and music. That love of 20th-century Americana led him to start London's first neo-rockabilly clothing store, "Rock-A-Cha", in 1979 and to front a rockabilly band called the El-Trains. A few years later he started DJing, and his pioneering mix of music made him one of the first DJs-as-popstars, working on radio and in nightclubs around the world. He has written for publications including The Face Magazine, the Sunday Times, i-D Magazine, and Vogue, and is the author of two art books: Tiki Mugs - Cult Artifacts of Polynesian Pop and Steampunk - The Art of Victorian Futurism. Ritual of the Savage is his first novel.
